February 28, 2009, Bangalore, saw the book launch of debut author Suchitra Krishnamoorthi. Acclaimed for brilliance in acting, singing & painting the zestful new author walked into Reliance Time Out in perfect style & panache at 30 past 11 only to be welcomed by a fist full of press reporters & an over eager reader (ME).
Maintaining her cool in the rapidly approaching Bangalore summer Suchitra engaged her audience through her witty repertoire & insightful comments on the inner workings of her first novel ‘The Summer of Cool’; the first book in a new series from Puffin.
The doting daughter (Suchitra), the ever so humble farther (Mr. Krishnamoorthi) & the incredibly charming sister (Sunita), made their presence felt in more ways than words can express. The prefect trio, they kept their rapidly growing audience engaged with their stream of humour & candid approach.

It was against this backdrop that I was introduced to the multifaceted author, by none other than her daddy dearest (Mr. Krishnamoorthi). Feeling complete odd & out of place, I mumbled insignificant nothings and hurried my way towards my empty beckoning chair; hoping to slip into the sea of anonymity. However, books being my passion and questioning being my nature I was unable to resist the temptation and quickly joined the pigeon winged reporters in asking my ‘one / two questions to fame’; completely lost in my silliness & thrilled to pieces with my accomplishment.
I quickly learnt that the ‘Summer of Cool’ was the journey of a little girl in search of her father, in hope of getting answers to the dozens of questions gnawing her precious mind and a final attempt to set things right. Simplistically written, filled with humour, a page turner the book makes for easy reading catering both to its very young and impressionable audience as well as its overgrown, mature & cynical child – called the Adult.

A fantastic attempt at writing, Suchitra is quickly spinning her web in the world of books, where imagination has no bounds and the addiction of reading is something that one has to experience. An interesting journey Suchitra, has embarked upon – the KA-CARE team wishes her the very best in her new found area of passion – Writing !
God Bless
